Ages 12 - Adult

Each Day, students will focus on the skills of a specific genre of dance taught by a new teacher/choreographer. Then they will learn a 1-2 minute dance in that style. At the end of the week, students will have an open presentation to share their work with friends and family.

Styles covered will include Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Hip Hop, and Modern Musical Theatre. 

Skills learned will help students in picking up choreography quickly to succeed at dance calls and auditions as well as give an overview of what is expected of each style.

This program is open to students of all experience level, but it is recommended you have a basic background in dance or movement. However, we encourage all to join us and push yourself to try something new.

Classes are Jan 6 - 10; Monday - Friday from 6 - 9pm

The final presentation rehearsal will be Saturday January 11th from 3 - 5pm followed by a presentation open to the public at 6pm. Afterwards, participants are welcome to stay and enjoy a Musical Theatre open mic night at 7:30pm.

For Students ages 10 - 19

Students will work in groups to write their own 15-minute musical based on a random prompt and song they will be assigned on their first day.

Each day will focus on a different aspect of the creative process:

Monday: Playwriting

Tuesday: Staging a Musical Number

Wednesday: Directing and Rehearsing

Thursday: Marketing

Friday: Technical Theatre

It is imperative to the success of the workshop that students be available for every meeting.

Meetings are Jan 20 - 254; Monday - Friday from 6 - 9pm

Welcome to the exciting world of improv! Students will learn about thinking fast on their feet, working as an ensemble, creating stories and characters from scratch, as well as performing improv in front of others. They will create their own characters, and then monologues. They will learn to take risks and not be afraid of something not working. A great way to build confidence onstage!

Do you want to "tech" a show? Maybe even work up to being a Props Designer? This is the perfect place to get training in the art of props design. Students will get hands-on experience by creating their own props, and showcasing them on the final day!

Students with dance experience will enjoy this fast-paced and fun course. Learn choreography and technique set to the sound tracks of current Broadway shows. The class will focus on traditional musical theater dance technique including tap. Students will improve their technique and musicality in the process. Permission from the Director of Education is required to enroll in this class.

Having a solid understanding of the audition process, along with mastered audition pieces helps eliminate nerves and audition "jitters." This class will prepare you for auditions of all kinds by receiving one-on-one monologue coaching, the do's and don't's of auditioning, and specialized techniques to help you calm your nerves before auditions.

Practice learning combinations to brush up skills for those dance auditions! Beginning students will learn dance technique in jazz and tap styles, and learn combinations quickly to aid physical memorization skills for dance auditions. Students will learn choreography to classic and contemporary Broadway musicals, and practice choreographing and improvising as well! Students need to bring their own jazz and tap shoes to class.

In this mini-musical, students learn rehearsal techniques and vocabulary as they put together a show inspired by the famous movie and contemporary musical, Wicked! Students will sing songs and learn choreography from the show as well as learn about character, stage presence, and acting out an original script.
