High School Musical Jr.

Calendar Aug 5, 2024 at 9:30 am

For students entering 6th - 12th grade this upcoming Fall

Disney Channel's smash hit movie musical comes to life in Disney’s High School Musical Jr. Troy, Gabriella and the students of East High must deal with issues of love, friends, and family, while balancing their classes and extra-curricular activities. The show’s infectious, danceable songs are sure to engage performers and audiences alike. In Studio East’s new three-week camp experience, students will have even more time to hone their performance skills, take additional skill-based workshops, and rehearse a more complex show complete with costumes, props, and a tech team to help the show run smoothly. More interested in being on the tech team? Sign up for Tech Camp instead, happening the 3rd week of this camp.

Teen Camps are two-three weeks of casting, rehearsing, and performing a fully-staged musical or play. The camp also provides 6th – 12th graders a variety of focused skill-building exercises intended to improve students’ theater skills. These productions are designed so that every participant has a moment to shine! The multi-week structure allows students more time to dive into acting and performance skills, and rehearse a longer, more detailed play than they would in a one-week camp.

* 3-week camp - The first two weeks will be at Lake Washington United Methodist Church. The third & final week will be at Studio East.

For students entering 6th - 10th grade this upcoming Fall

Nevermore Academy is an academic institution that nurtures outcasts, freaks, and monsters. Applications are open to werewolves, vampires, sirens, gorgons, and anyone else with unnatural abilities. In this one-week acting camp, we’ll create a parody play inspired by the dark academia and supernatural genres. We’ll use popular Netflix series “Wednesday” as inspiration, but knowledge of the show is not needed as we’ll also mine from the campers’ dark imaginations to create a brand-new chilling story.

Change It Up Camp: In Change It Up Camp theater camps students create and perform a world premiere in one week! We will create a parody version or popular story or genre, and learn the acting skills to bring it to life under the direction of professional theater artists. Then, after rehearsing our original script, we’ll premiere it on the final day of camp for our family and friends.
